Hiawatha Little Free Libraries

What are Little Free Libraries?

A community movement in the United States and worldwide that offers free books housed in small containers to members of the local community. Find more information at littlefreelibrary.org

I worked on this project very actively for about a year in order to go from an idea to "in the ground reality." I was able to collaborate with various nonprofit and governmental organizations. I served on the Friends of the Hiawatha Library Board and worked with the Trustees Board and the Parks Department to get this approved. Local artists paint 3 of them and one was painted by students at the elementary school across from the park. The 4th Little Free Library was donated to the town of Fairfax, Iowa. It was the 1st and only Little Free Library for that town.
