Library Community Borrower's Permits
I have a community borrower's permit from U of I and really enjoy their library I could spend days just reading all the books they have available. I think its great that any resident of Iowa can borrower books from them for Free!!! I really believe that the University of Iowa really wants to empower people to seek enlightenment and better themselves. I also like this because everyone who pays tax’s in Iowa is paying for this too and I feel its a good return on taxpayer investment. Iowa also has most of the text on its website released under the creative commons license(Link)which is cool.
I have visited the other state universities libraries (UNI ISU) but they charge people who want to borrower books from them if you are not a student or faculty!
This is a picture of my community borrower's permit from U of I. I covered my name up for privacy reasons.
Community Borrower's Permits:
Users not affiliated with the University may, under some circumstances, be permitted to check materials out of the Libraries. Application for a borrower's permit may be made at Main Library Circulation Services or any university library. Borrower’s permits, in most circumstances, will be issued to Iowa residents showing proof of residency and a picture ID (such as a current Iowa drivers license).” Website

Libraries Quotes
Without libraries what have we? We have no past and no future. Ray Bradbury
With a library you are free, not confined by temporary political climates. It is the most democratic of institutions because no one – but no one at all – can tell you what to read and when and how. –Doris Lessing
If you want to get laid, go to college. If you want an education, go to the library. –Frank Zappa
A library is a place where you learn what teachers were afraid to teach you. –Alan M. Dershowitz
When we build a public library, we don't have to pay to get in, but when we build a stadium, we have to pay the owner every time we go to a game.
Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura
There is not such a cradle of democracy upon the earth as the Free Public Library, this republic of letters, where neither rank, office, nor wealth receives the slightest consideration.
Andrew Carnegie
A library book...is not, then, an article of mere consumption, but fairly of capital, and often in the case of professional men, setting out in life, is their only capital. Thomas Jefferson
You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them. ― Ray Bradbury
Don't ever apologize to an author for buying something in paperback, or taking it out from a library (that's what they're there for. Use your library). Don't apologize to this author for buying books second hand, or getting them from bookcrossing or borrowing a friend's copy. What's important to me is that people read the books and enjoy them, and that, at some point in there, the book was bought by someone. And that people who like things, tell other people. The most important thing is that people read. ― Neil Gaiman
Libraries raised me. I don't believe in colleges and universities. I believe in libraries because most students don't have any money. When I graduated from high school, it was during the Depression and we had no money. I couldn't go to college, so I went to the library three days a week for 10 years.
Ray Bradbury

“The Iowa Masonic Library is reputed to be the largest in the world, and is at least one of the top five, with over 100,000 volumes. Both Masonic and general books are included in the collections and the library is open to anyone, whether Masons or not.”
I have been here a many times and find the books and the collections to be rather interesting a lot of books here that you will not find anywhere else. Website
World Book Night U.S. was a celebration of books and reading held on April 23, when 25,000 passionate volunteers (I was a volunteer in 2014) across America gave a total of half a million books within their communities to those who don’t regularly read. the program ran for a few years but 2014 was its last year in the USA.
